The end of the line for the American Freedom Train -- display city #138.

Mile number 25,833 was recorded on an official plaque and milepost.

By December 31, over seven million people had passed through the display cars of the American Freedom Train. Ross Rowland returned to lock the door after the last visitor and declared the American Freedom Train officially closed. The staff threw a grand party to ring in the New Year -- and went their separate ways in the morning.

Miami was later the embarkation point for the 1986 American Freedom Train Crew Reunion cruise.
