American Freedom Train Lionel HO Catalog Lionel produced the American Freedom Train in HO scale beginning in 1975 and carrying over into 1976. This catalog from 1975 depicts the AFT in one of its proposed paint schemes. One of the real display cars was even partially painted in this scheme as a test. Eventually another paint scheme was chosen, but this rare glimpse at what could have been lives on in these photos. Lionel had a total of four offerings: a seven-unit deluxe steamer set, a five-unit diesel set, the AFT 4449 steam locomotive offered by itself, and an O gauge model of the second Preamble Express locomotive based on Lionel's classic F3 locomotive body. |
